Engineering student wins 2018 Breakthrough Innovation Challenge
Austin Yoshino, a mechanical engineering (ME) student won the Pacific Asia Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) 2018 Breakthrough Innovation Challenge for his idea – a gait trainer to assist the disabled. A second ME team also made it to the final round – the Heaterator concept was a portable thermo-electrically cooled and heated lunchbox. Both teams are students in the Introduction to Innovation and Entrepreneurship class (ME 492) taught by Dr. Bob Nakata, a veteran of Silicon Valley startups.
