Dedicated faculty are the heart of any educational program. This is certainly the case for the College of Engineering. In 2001, the late emeritus professor, Dr. Hi Chang Chai, generously established an endowment to support excellent teaching by engineering faculty, ensuring that teaching will be honored in perpetuity by the UH College of Engineering. The graduating seniors were asked to vote for the most outstanding teacher in their department and selected these special faculty members. From the Civil and Environmental Engineering department, Professor Phillip Ooi. From the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, Professor Aaron Ohta. From the Mechanical Engineering department, Professor Tyler Ray.
